My Reflection on Andela Epic Values
Values are important because they help to grow our thought and develop a positive attitude at work and in all aspect of our lives. These values are always there to help us make productive decisions. Organizations and individuals around the globe make hundreds of thousands of decisions every day. These decisions are the reflection of our values and beliefs.
In Andela, where EPIC value exists. EPIC is an acronym for Excellence, Passion, Integrity, and collaboration. These are Andela core values. Also, it is very important that anyone who wants to joined the Andela fellowship knows about these values and demonstrate them during the Bootcamp stage. In the interview stage, I had a glimpse of the height of importance that surrounds these values and what is expected of me if I make it to the next stage. Also in the interview, I realized that Andela is the place where I can pursue my dream to become a technology leader and a world-class software developer.
Kindly allow me to walk you through my reflections about Andela EPIC values.
Excellence
Excellence demands high quality, merit, brilliance, and distinction. It seems to me that there is no place for laziness and mediocrity in Andela. They believed that if something is worth doing, its worth doing well. Most world-famous personnel who publish their quote about excellence all say one fact in common. The fact is that excellence is not an act, but a habit.
Andela expects me to:
1. Possess a high-quality standard for the work I deliver,
2. Constantly improve on existing work based on the feedback from the LFA.
3. Always show a thirst for knowledge and constantly seek growth.
After the code review, which I had with my LFA on the first day of this Bootcamp cycle 36. I learned how to make my user interfaced scale on the larger screens, match colors correctly, Enhance user interface for seamless user experience and see the need to improve my code quality.
Truly, Excellence is key in Andela.
Passion
It is no news that Andela invests in Africa’s most talented software engineers to help companies solve the technical talent shortage and build high-performing distributed engineering teams. Over the past four years, Andela has identified and hired the top .7% of over 75,000 applicants to work as full-time distributed team members from their technical campuses in Lagos, Nairobi, and Kampala.
I am more than willing to join this workforce to contribute to the ongoing progress which is born out of a passion for technology.
To start with, In spite of Electric power issue, I will endeavor to meet the expectations for this ongoing Bootcamp cycle 36.
Integrity
Integrity means to be honest. It demands the truth. It demands that I asked questions when I need help. It frowns at pretense and exposes it in little or no time. Having honesty and integrity in the workplace is one of the most important qualities of great leadership.
Integrity is needed in all aspect of our lives. Nobody wants work with someone who does not have integrity. At Andela, integrity is very important.
Collaboration
Collaboration is also one of the cornerstones of Andela core values. Collaboration means to work with two or more people to achieve a goal. Since no man is an island, Andela encourages collaboration in teams. They expect the best by bringing brilliant minds together to achieve a goal.
Collaboration also demands to solve the problems and manage conflicts in the team.
Conclusion
Andela Epic values are true. It important to know that without these values it will be difficult to work in Andela.
